Where to Begin:
The Home Run:
- Find the first box or device. With a dedicated circuit, this will be easy as it will be your only box! On any other circuit, you will need to pick a box to run to first from the panel.
- Which box should be first? The first box is not always the closest. Think about what is being fed with your circuit, and how the cable will need to be routed. Try to design your circuit so you keep to a minimum the number of cables in each box.
- To GFCI, or Not. In some circuits, such as the kitchen receptacles, some outlets require GFCI protection (all counter-top receptacles) and some do not (the refrigerator), try to run to the ones that do not require GFCI protection first.
